Children-
Many people ask if children are
welcome at Abigail's Tea Room? And the answer is a Definite
Maybe? If your little Darling can sit for long periods of
time without becoming whiny, loud and disruptive then they
are welcome! Due to having experienced this very problem
more often then we would like, we prefer children under 3
not visit our Tea Room. Please arrange for a baby sitter
for your little one.
Here are the reasons for our
decision on children in the Tea Room:
Our Tea Room is High Victorian
with lace table cloths and linens. We have wall to wall
carpeting and Austrian Drapes and many Antiques in our
dining areas. Unfortunately, most of the problem seems to
be with the parent not providing proper supervision for the
child. Instead they load up handfuls of cereal, crackers
and candy on top of our silk table cloths, that end up not
only ground into the table linens but on the chair seats,
chair backs and on the carpet! We cannot believe the mess
left behind by "some" parents. Much damage has been done by
children roaming the tea room unsupervised especially the
gift shop and upstairs were many of our antiques are
located. No child may be left unattended at any time, and
please refrain from bringing all the 'messy' snacks that end
up all over the floor and our beautiful lace table cloths.
We have no children's menu, high chair, or diaper changing
area, and you must take your soiled diapers with you please.
So, while you are visiting with
us, please keep in mind our wishes for a quiet, clean
establishment. Many of our guests come to Abigail's to
relax, and this is hard with screaming babies/toddlers. When
making your reservations, please notify us that you would
like to bring children.
